Job Summary
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern with the Nidec Aerospace team, you will have the opportunity to apply and develop your expertise to design electric propulsion systems for battery‑powered aircraft that enable sustainable and efficient transportation. Nidec Aerospace is a joint venture between Nidec and Embraer, leading the electrification of aircraft and supporting the industry’s transition to net‑zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Position OverviewWe are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Mechanical Engineering Co‑op to join our team specializing in mechanical engineering projects. This role offers hands‑on experience working on the design, assembly, and validation of high‑performance aerospace electrical engines.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the mechanical design of various components required to assemble and build electrical engines (FAA classification of aerospace propulsion motors).
- Become familiar with component design, 3‑D and 2‑D detailing, and various manufacturing methods.
- Work in different labs on the assembly of electrical engines.
- Collaborate with Nidec and external facilities on testing and validation of electrical engines and their internal subsystems.
- Assist in all tasks required to meet assembly and validation timelines of projects.
- Create documentation as needed to support electrical engine development.
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong academic background with coursework in mechanical / aerospace engineering.
- Familiarity with CAD tools (Creo used at Nidec Aerospace).
- Strong data analysis skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent organizational, time‑management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently when required.
