We Are Looking For Someone Like YouMurphy Company is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer or Designer to work in a Design-Build and Design-Assist environment in the St. Louis, MO office. This group consists of construction-minded colleagues who are flexible and versed in the understanding of concepts and systems. This group works closely with the sales, estimating, and construction groups in addition to the primary engineering design duties.
The Murphy Engineering staff focuses on a wide variety of commercial, institutional and industrial applications to support our current work program.
- 2+ years’ experience or equivalent in facilities design, in markets such as healthcare, higher education, or commercial.
- Thorough knowledge of building codes
- Competent in REVIT & AutoCAD
- Desire and interest to support the built environment
- Self-starter who works well with others and likes being challenged
- Able to plan, prioritize, organize and manage responsibilities on multiple projects
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
- EIT is a plus
- Construction experience a plus
- Capable of researching, reviewing, and developing design criteria for variety of facilities
- Interact with building owners, property management, architects, and members of construction team
- Excellent organizational, technical, communication (both written and verbal), and documentation skills and be capable of working in a team environment
- Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems
- Ability to professionally present technical issues to clients, receive feedback, and collaboratively develop solutions
- Assist Estimating and Pre-Construction groups to provide construction proposals
- Define system requirements and equipment selections for design-build work
- Competent in various industry calculation and simulation programs (Trane Trace 700 or Carrier HAP)
- Generate plans and coordinate with other trades
- Ensure designs meet all applicable codes and safety standards
- Mechanical Design assignments including HVAC (air and waterside), Medical/Lab Gasses, and Process System layout and sizing
- Prepare and approve shop drawing submittals from vendors
- Develop and maintain CAD/BIM standards and details
