The Senior Electrical Estimator develops accurate, detailed, and timely construction cost estimates for all electrical-related trades across all phases of project design, supporting the successful delivery of Federal projects.
Responsibilities- Developing accurate, detailed electrical construction cost estimates at progressive design stages
- Developing associated scope of work clarifications
- Identifying risk items and the associated order of magnitude
- Assisting with Preconstruction resource management
- Assisting with the development and utilization of the Preconstruction processes, standards and tools
- Assisting the Pricing Lead and participating in estimate review meetings
- Contributing to cost savings exercises
- Assisting with the development of bid packages
- Assisting with the project construction budget
- Assisting with Preconstruction-Operations Turnover Meetings
- Assisting with Subcontractor and Vendor relationships
- Assisting with project procurement and buyout
- Collaborating with Preconstruction Leadership
- Collaborating with designers and clients
- Collaborating and assisting the project operations team
- Following project construction costs and market trends
- Participating in Preconstruction software development, maintenance and historical costs
- Leading and training Estimating personnel
- Traveling as required - 10%-20%
- Other duties which may be assigned as needed
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or accredited construction-related curriculum (Electrical Engineering preferred)
- A minimum of 5 years of estimating experience or 15 years of relevant experience in the construction industry
- Demonstrated electrical estimating experience, preparing quantity surveys and cost estimates for all electrical construction scopes of work, requiring complete knowledge of labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs
- Experience with Federal projects including MILCON vertical projects for the Dept of Defense, Dept of Homeland Security, NASA, Defense Innovation Unit, etc.
- Experience estimating mechanical work on Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFAR) compliant projects
- Knowledge of electrical codes with the ability to utilize at all levels of design including ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC, UFC/ UFGS and other related codes
- Knowledge of LEED and Guiding Principles sustainability objectives
- Proficient with on-screen takeoff software, such as Trimble Livecount
- Estimating software experience required, Trimble Accubid, and Beck Destini Estimator preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build project delivery method experience
- Experience with federal procurement processes, including RFP based Contracts and Task Orders with federal agency branches that manage acquisitions such as USACE, NAVFAC, USCG, NASA, GSA, DIU, and others
- Proven computer skills, including the utilization of Microsoft Office programs
- Revit/Navisworks experience preferred

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds.
