Under general direction, responsible for the service & repair, design, configuration, and operation of complete HVAC building control systems and other low voltage control sub-systems (i.e., lighting, nurse call, data networks, etc.) to meet the intent of the customers and JCI goals. Accountable for quality, timeliness, and efficiency of service & repair and designs. Develops complex software programs, commissioning and solving to ensure proper operations of the building control system.
Provides detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, sales, and service team and subcontractors.
- Design, configure, and service technically complex building control systems for the customer’s facility.
- Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts, schedules, and electrical schematics as required.
- Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system per customer facility requirements.
- Coordinate and create necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals, services, and/or installation.
- Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assigned jobs.
- Assist in loading and commissioning of system and network-level controllers as required.
- Validate complete system functionality and solve problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
- Provide field change information to the team for the creation of as-built drawings and software.
- Keep management and contractor and customer informed of job progress and issues.
- Assist in performing site‑specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system.
- Participate in coordination and release meetings with sales and service operations.
- Perform value engineering to provide cost‑effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- May provide work direction to Service Controls Technician I and Senior I and Senior II Controls Technicians.
- Adhere to safety standards and maintain a high degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
Required:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the HVAC industry.
- Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building subsystems.
- Experience in integrating low voltage building sub-systems using industry protocols (i.e., LON, BACnet, etc.).
- Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non‑technical audience.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in computer‑related drafting tools.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in engineering and/or a minimum of seven (7) years of experience.
Hiring hourly range: $36.59 - $50.29 hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
