Farnsworth Group is seeking a Civil 3D Designer (Energy & Utilities) in St. Louis, MO. The role involves drafting, design, permitting, and construction administration of industrial projects, primarily oil & gas, wind, solar, and utility projects.
Responsibilities- Preparing topographic and civil alignment/profile and utility drawings, and occasional work on other engineering disciplines' drawings.
- Preparing civil‑based drawings, and occasionally facility and/or process piping drawings.
- Preparing easement exhibits with guidance from a licensed surveyor.
- Assisting with proposal development by providing estimated hours to complete the scope of work.
- Mentoring and supervising junior CAD staff.
- Providing QA/QC of CAD design team deliverables, including review and feedback of the native design files.
- Collaborating with the CAD design team to implement processes and procedures for continual improvement.
- Executing multi‑discipline projects in collaboration with Project Managers, Engineering Leads, and other CAD staff including CADWorx designers.
- Preparing civil and mechanical‑based as-built drawings.
- Associates or Technical Degree in Computer Aided Drafting/Design, or similar field.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Petroleum Engineering from an ABET‑accredited curriculum (preferred).
- 10+ years of experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design and prepare construction drawings.
- Flexibility to perform design and drafting and meet stringent deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong time‑management skills and ability to plan and manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Team‑oriented, highly motivated, strong work ethic, and ability to work with minimal direction.
- Strong understanding of CAD standards, features, annotation styles, line styles, and drawing setup.
- General knowledge of survey coordinate systems and GIS.
- Effective communication with a variety of project team members.
- Experience in the oil & gas or renewable energy industry.
- Micro Station experience.
- Experience processing survey data, LiDAR scan data, and point clouds.
- Bluebeam experience.
- Industrial mechanical piping experience.
