Job Description

Join Olsson’s Bridge team as a Project Manager, making a significant impact on the success of our growth in Missouri as we continue to expand our footprint to St. Louis!

Our Bridge group works on a wide range of projects including bridge and retaining walls, dams, storm and traffic structures, inspections, rehabilitations, load ratings, and assisting with construction engineering services. We facilitate designs on transportation projects that include grade separations, interchanges, and stream crossings for public and private clients throughout the Midwest.

As a Project Manager, you will be a lead project manager for our Bridge team, ensuring successful project deliverables and completion for complex and high‑priority projects that may span across multiple teams. You will also provide direction to the Bridge team and ensure quality execution of key projects that provide purposeful, high‑quality solutions to successfully solve engineering and design needs.

As a leader in the market, you will be instrumental in expanding our client base and growing our bridge group. You will take charge of supervising and nurturing the professional and technical growth of team members. Your emphasis on mentorship will contribute to a culture that values skill development, collaboration, and collective success. Together, we can make a positive impact on our communities and play a vital role in shaping the future of transportation infrastructure.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Lead efforts to expand our client base and grow our bridge group, leveraging your market expertise.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets and track progress to manage the financial success of projects and ensure timely completion.
  • Manage complex contract negotiations.
  • Lead the execution of project plans by assembling and managing project teams, coordinating availability of internal resources, and assigning individual responsibilities ensuring technical skills, capabilities, and expertise align with project objectives.
  • Serve as primary liaison between all parties involved in a project.
  • Monitor progress and measure project performance, ensuring deliverables fall within established scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Manage change requests, execute risk management techniques, and implement strategies to minimize negative financial impact to the project.
  • Coordinate detailed reviews of technical work to ensure high‑quality work is being performed and the terms, conditions, and specifications outlined in the project contract are being fulfilled.
  • Maintain an ongoing positive relationship with clients and focus on exceptional client service to secure future work.
  • Document all project deliverables and maintain comprehensive records including correspondence, design plans, and other project‑related files.
  • Supervise and mentor staff within the team on project management best practices utilizing Olsson Project Management programs and other project support services resources.
  • Adhere to regulations and enforce safety standards.

You bring to the team:

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Master’s degree, or in pursuit, a plus.
  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Must be a registered Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Experience with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design and bridge analysis and design programs (LARSA, LEAP Bridge Expertise, Lpile, SPColumn, or MDX) preferred.
  • Expertise with MoDOT bridge projects preferred.
  • Familiarity with Micro Station software preferred.
