Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Electronics Technician, Test Engineer
Aclara, a Hubbell Utility Solutions business unit, is seeking an Engineering Lab Technician to support day‑to‑day operations in the Engineering Lab through hands‑on technical work. This role involves assembling, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic and electromechanical products, prototypes, and lab equipment.
The technician will contribute to product development, validation, and qualification efforts by following established procedures, documenting results accurately, and supporting a safe, organized, and efficient lab environment.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with practical electronics experience who enjoys working collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and lab personnel.
The Engineering Lab Technician performs a variety of technical laboratory activities involving electronic and electromechanical equipment, including fabrication, assembly, modification, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance. This role also documents, reports, and communicates test‑related information using Microsoft Office tools.
What will help you thrive in this role?- Associate degree or certificate in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and hands‑on experience.
- Prior experience in supporting prototype fabrication, product assembly, and equipment integration activities.
- Hands‑on experience fabricating and assembling electronic equipment, including surface‑mount components, using engineering sketches, drawings, and instructions.
- Experience with environmental, functional, and product qualification testing.
- Ability to set up and perform environmental, functional, and product qualification tests by following prepared procedures, standard test methods, and engineering direction.
- Proficiency using engineering laboratory instruments, tools, and facilities to support testing and product development activities.
- Skilled at troubleshooting equipment issues, perform basic repairs, and assist with maintaining laboratory equipment and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and organized records of test activities in accordance with established procedures, and follow proper ESD practices within the laboratory work area.
