Job Description
The Application Engineer will work within a team, from customers, suppliers, and manufacturers, to translate designs into production. Provide technical guidance to support schedule and product cost to ensure overall success on projects. Utilize appropriate tools and resources to perform necessary design tasks including design conception, analysis, testing, and verification.
Some key activities include designing motors both electrically and mechanically, sampling motors to customers, obtaining engineering approvals, setting up motors into production, and providing support to customers and plants for motors that are in production.
Duties- Creating product specifications
- Prepare proposals, quotations per customer and marketing request
- Provide technical support for internal and on-site customers
- Support sales and marketing with product selection
- Develop and maintain relationships with different customers
- Work with engineers from various departments to resolve problems that arise during and after implementation
- Provide Ideas and participate in cost reduction projects
- Support the software group Testing and troubleshooting new software versions
- Support the development group on new platforms
- Support Quality department
- Able to read electrical diagrams
- Perform testing per internal and/or external standards and create test result report
- Review and summarize test data
- Coordinate team meetings and conference calls with customer engineers, manufacturing, sales, and quality personnel
- Create project-related schedules, resource plans, and test plans
- Use lab tools and measuring equipment to test fractional horsepower motors
- Graph technical and performance data and interpret results
- Create and maintain production bill of materials and drawings for motor products
- Support remote manufacturing plants. Troubleshoot and resolve quality issues with motor designs and manufacturing processes.
- B.S in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field
- 0-2 years of work experience, preferably in electric motor industry. Co-op/Internship experiences in engineering or manufacturing environment is a plus
- Informal leadership skills and ability to collaborate with multi-functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Solid interpersonal skills and team orientation
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to navigate Microsoft Office application and learn other computer skills.
- Familiarity/experience to safely operate hand tools and power tools (drill, electric saw, etc.)
- Some travel is required on a quarterly basis
