Lead & Senior Mechanical Engineer - Sectors

Position Overview

As a Lead and Senior Mechanical Engineer with a specialization in HVAC design at Henderson Engineers, you will contribute expertise to our six market sectors:
Venue, Community, Grocery & Distribution, Health, Retail, and Business. You will integrate engineering knowledge with on‑the‑field experience from Henderson Building Solutions to deliver a client experience unlike any other in the industry.

Multiple openings: applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

• Proactively advise and mentor less experienced designers and engineers across teams or practices, providing oversight and technical guidance.
• Takes responsibility for the success of those under their direct supervision.
• Design advanced building systems, prepare design documents, and perform engineering calculations in coordination with project teams and multiple disciplines; may include supervising or managing design staff and participating in business development, corporate operations, and risk management.
• Lead project and design efforts from concept design through completion.
• Produce solutions to complex engineering problems and complicated design challenges through direct involvement or an advisory capacity.
• Ensure production of drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meets scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
• Involved in the development of tools, resources, and company practices.
• Implement and reinforce design and engineering standards at the team or practice level.
• Oversee the quality of projects and designs through the quality review process and regular check‑ins; may provide final reviews for projects under purview.

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural engineering and 11 years of relevant experience, or 13 years without a degree. Professional Engineering (PE) license may count toward one year of experience.
• Advanced knowledge in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards across a broad range of practices and projects.
• Knowledge of earned value, contracts, and construction processes.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu.
• Advanced proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and HVAC design software (IESVE, Trane Trace).

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, 15 years of relevant experience; degree may be substituted by commensurate experience. PE license may count toward one year of experience.
• Expert knowledge in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards.
• Working knowledge of earned value, contracts, and construction processes.
• Working knowledge of Bluebeam Revu.
• Advanced proficiency in CAD and HVAC design software.

• Professional Engineering license.
• Completion of FE exam, LEED and/or WELL accreditation.
• Advanced knowledge in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards across a range of practices.
