Position Summary
As a Mechanical Packaging Specialist, you’ll provide technical assistance in packaging processes. With a focus on mechanical packaging technology, you’ll offer expert technical assistance and work independently on larger, moderately complex projects, from concept development.
Responsibilities- Design and develop packaging systems to ensure reliability and innovation that meet operational objectives with a direct impact on department results.
- Conduct feasibility studies and analyze package performance through testing and simulations, drawing from prior experience to solve problems and improve effectiveness.
- Collaborate with Research and Development (R&D), production, and marketing teams to align packaging designs with product specifications and branding requirements.
- Evaluate packaging materials and processes, emphasizing sustainability and operational efficiency, including life cycle assessments.
- Implement cost‑reduction initiatives by assessing existing packaging designs and identifying opportunities for enhancements.
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot packaging machinery and processes within manufacturing facilities, influencing internal contacts through clear communication of facts, policies, and practices.
- Position requires 50‑60% travel.
- Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering, packaging engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical packaging engineering in pet food, CPG, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 7+ years of mechanical packaging experience or relevant internship experience in pet food, CPG, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
- Must be able to travel 50‑60% of the time.
