Lead Electrical Engineer – Mission Critical
The Lead Electrical Engineer – Mission Critical will lead the design and implementation of electrical systems for mission‑critical facilities, including data centers, advanced manufacturing plants, and other high‑reliability environments. This role requires deep technical expertise in power distribution, emergency systems, grounding, and redundancy strategies essential for 24/7 operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing electrical infrastructure that meets stringent uptime and efficiency requirements while coordinating with cross‑disciplinary teams in a fast‑paced, design‑build environment.
Specificsof the Role
- Lead the electrical design process for mission‑critical projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and client requirements.
- Develop power distribution, grounding, UPS, emergency power, and redundancy strategies for data centers and other high‑availability environments.
- Perform short‑circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies to optimize electrical system reliability and safety.
- Collaborate closely with architectural, mechanical, and structural teams to integrate electrical systems into overall project design.
- Work with construction teams to ensure seamless execution, providing field support and resolving technical challenges.
- Manage client relationships, presenting technical solutions and ensuring alignment with operational goals.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards and best practices.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in the mission‑critical industry, incorporating innovative solutions into projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field;
Master’s degree preferred. - Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 10+ years of electrical engineering experience, with at least 5 years focused on mission‑critical projects (data centers, high‑tech manufacturing, etc.).
- Proficiency in power system design, redundancy planning, and energy efficiency strategies for high‑reliability facilities.
- Expertise in software tools such as SKM Power
* Tools, ETAP, or Easy Power for power analysis. - Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and other relevant codes and standards.
- Experience working in a design‑build or integrated project delivery (IPD) environment is a plus.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
