Farnsworth Group is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager – Healthcare. The role blends deep technical expertise in healthcare electrical systems with project management, client leadership, and mentoring within a multi‑disciplinary architecture and engineering team. Responsibilities include leading and managing the electrical engineering team on healthcare projects, overseeing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk across multiple concurrent projects; serving as the electrical discipline lead for hospitals and related facilities;

supporting projects primarily in Illinois and the greater St. Louis region; overseeing electrical design; ensuring compliance with applicable codes; providing technical QA/QC review; leading project management activities; building client relationships; mentoring engineers; supporting business development; promoting use of firm standards and BIM workflows; and staying current with evolving codes and technologies.

• Lead and manage the electrical engineering team on healthcare projects, overseeing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk.
• Serve as electrical discipline lead for hospitals, ambulatory care centers, imaging and procedure suites, and other healthcare facilities.
• Support projects in Illinois and the greater St. Louis region, with periodic travel to client sites and Farnsworth Group offices.
• Oversee and perform electrical design, including normal and emergency power distribution, essential electrical systems, lighting, fire alarm, grounding, nurse call, low‑voltage, and life‑safety systems.
• Ensure compliance with applicable electrical and healthcare codes and standards.
• Direct or review power system studies (short‑circuit, protective device coordination, arc‑flash, load flow, voltage drop).
• Provide technical QA/QC review of drawings, one‑line diagrams, calculations, specifications, photometric studies, and reports.
• Lead project management activities, including work planning, staff assignments, fee and scope management, change‑order negotiation, and monitoring of project financial performance.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare clients and stakeholders.
• Mentor and coach electrical engineers and designers.
• Support business development by participating in pursuits and developing scopes and fees.
• Promote consistent use of firm standards, BIM/Revit workflows, and coordination procedures.
• Stay current with evolving codes, technologies, and best practices, including decarbonization, microgrids, on‑site generation, and resiliency strategies.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• 12‑15+ years of progressively responsible experience in building electrical design, with significant experience on healthcare projects in an AEC/MEP consulting environment.
• Experience functioning as electrical lead and/or electrical project manager on multi‑disciplinary healthcare projects.
• Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and relevant NFPA standards (NFPA 72, 99, 101, 110), FGI Guidelines, and applicable state/local codes.
• Proficiency with power distribution design, emergency/standby power systems, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm and life‑safety systems, and low‑voltage infrastructure for healthcare facilities.
• Experience performing or overseeing electrical power system studies (short‑circuit, coordination, arc‑flash).
• Proficiency with Revit and BIM workflows for electrical systems; experience with SKM, ETAP, or similar analysis tools is a plus.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work effectively with clients, design partners, and contractors.

• Experience with large hospital campuses, critical access hospitals, or major healthcare systems.
• Experience with alternative delivery (Design‑Build, IPD, design‑assist) and early contractor collaboration.
• Experience with HCAI/OSHPD or other state health authority approval processes.
• LEED AP, WELL AP, or other sustainability credentials.
