We are seeking a Licensed (PE) Senior Structural Substation Engineer with 6+ years of experience within the power utility industry supporting the planning, design, and development of Electric Substation Projects for utility clients. This position will be in Dallas, TX, Houston, TX, St. Louis, MO, Raleigh, NC, or Remote.

Under general to minimal supervision, this individual will provide Engineering support on electrical substation projects, producing designs and specifications for power and energy infrastructure. Tasks may include generating designs for substation structural and civil-related layouts and components, including foundations, steel structures, equipment supports, and foundations.

The candidate must have a strong educational background in design of steel structures, concrete structures, geotechnical engineering, and foundations. Experience reviewing substation structure design, rigid bus design, foundation design, oil spill containment design, retaining walls, masonry control shelters, and firewalls is required. This position will consist of performing design reviews of the aforementioned civil/structural design components in support of the development of bid/construction packages for substation projects.

Candidate will primarily function as a senior engineer leading projects, developing engineering plan packages, performing design reviews, as well as developing junior staff members. Site-visits to client substation facilities are expected to be part of the work, along with occasional travel for client meetings and industry-related events.

Candidate must comply with quality control and safe work practices and maintain compliance with project scope, schedule and budget expectations. This position will be a senior member of a design team comprised of engineers, designers, and drafting technicians.

• Under general supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from physical work sites, surveys, structural concepts, vendor drawings, blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, rough sketches, diagrams, and written or verbal specifications to support substation structural drafting and design activities.
• Review and verifying drawing accuracy, dimensions, material quantities, design revisions, change orders, and interpretation of contract plans and specifications, escalating technical issues as appropriate.
• Work with cross-functional teams, including structural, electrical, and civil disciplines, in executing substation project work.
• Assure plans adhere to applicable city, state, and federal regulations, as well as client and industry standards.
• Prepare multiple phases of substation structural designs and plan packages.
• Ensure the specification of dimensions, materials, and procedures for assigned substation projects, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
• Work collaboratively with other technical professionals on assigned project phases, segments, checks, and tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to Utilli Co’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
