Process Automation Engineer – Entry Level – Onsite – Chesterfield, MO (Greater St. Louis Area) – Multiple Openings

You will collaborate with the engineering team, order management, inside sales and outside sales. This position offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience by servicing customers in a variety of industries simultaneously such as chemical, power generation, refining, oil & gas, food & beverage, pulp & paper, and water.

This position is responsible for rotating throughout the engineering services organization and working with different engineering teams to provide service to various customers. This position will allow entry-level engineers to develop technical skills in automation engineering through a series of dynamic training and development activities made up of a combination of e-learning, in-person courses and hands‑on experiences in the office and at customer sites.

The Process Automation Engineer will participate in customer site activities, including control system commissioning and startup, cybersecurity improvements and system modernization.

  • Providing engineering and design services to our customers required to maximize the value of their process control systems.
  • Rotating throughout the engineering services organization, working with different engineering teams on providing service to a range of customers.
  • Assisting with plant operations and optimization responsibilities.
  • Handling process control design, automation system configuration, project execution, instrument specification and selection, and construction support.
  • Delivering quality solutions and services to customers using the technologies provided by DeltaV, DeltaV SIS, Asset Management Systems (AMS) and other Emerson solutions.
  • Serving the team through your technical knowledge and technical leadership.
  • Proactively learning to apply new automation products.
  • Collaborating successfully both internally and externally to impact Experitec and client profitability through effective partnerships with clients, Emerson partners, other Experitec employee owners, and other Emerson Impact Partners to maximize business results.
What does the Process Automation Engineer do?
  • Performing operator and maintenance training.
  • Achieving technical knowledge of the products and services we deploy at the customer site.
  • Performing process control equipment installations and startups.
  • Handling system upgrades and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Embracing and reflecting Experitec’s Core Values.
  • Interpreting and updating process and control system design documents.
  • Developing and implementing control system configuration.
  • Performing engineering and design studies.
  • Designing and implementing effective operator interfaces using Delta

  • Integrating PLCs, safety systems, and field devices into Delta

  • Performing testing, construction, and installation of designed control solutions.
Required Skills, Experience & Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Electronics, Industrial Technology or Associate degree in a similar area with two or more years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work in office or at client sites Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm and to occasionally work additional hours as needed and to participate in rotating on call support.
