Principal Project Engineer – Life Sciences Capital Projects

This is an outstanding opportunity to lead critical work streams on a large-scale life sciences construction project supporting the expansion of pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience managing capital projects within GMP-regulated facilities, including cleanroom design, construction, commissioning, and validation activities.

Responsibilities- Lead engineering work streams on large pharmaceutical capital projects from planning through project completion.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and technical execution while ensuring successful project delivery.
- Partner with site leadership, engineering, construction, quality, and operations teams to drive timely project decisions.
- Coordinate contractors, engineering disciplines, and project stakeholders throughout all project phases.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, construction submittals, RFIs, and technical documentation.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies while proactively resolving technical and construction issues.
- Support commissioning, qualification, and validation activities for GMP manufacturing facilities.
- Maintain strong communication with project stakeholders while driving accountability across cross-functional teams.
- Ensure projects comply with applicable cGMP regulations, engineering standards, and company procedures.
- Manage scope changes, project documentation, and engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
- 15+ years of experience managing capital engineering projects.
- Demonstrated experience supporting pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing facilities.
- Experience with cleanroom design and construction, including classified Grade C/D manufacturing spaces.
- Experience executing brownfield expansion projects within operating manufacturing facilities is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commissioning, qualification, and validation processes.
- Experience supporting construction execution, contractor management, RFIs, submittals, and field engineering.
- Strong understanding of cGMP regulations and pharmaceutical manufacturing standards.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, P&IDs, and construction documentation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to independently manage complex engineering work streams.
- Must be able to work onsite in St. Louis, MO Monday through Friday.
