Generator Repairer

This role focuses on the disassembly, reassembly, rewinding, repair, and testing of mechanical and electrical components and fully assembled generator units. You will travel frequently throughout the year, including some holidays, to customer sites where you will lead qualified crews, provide technical guidance, and serve as the primary onsite point of contact. The position also requires preparing detailed technical reports for each job, documenting all work performed and relevant specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble generator mechanical and electrical components and fully assembled units.
  • Perform rewinding, repairs, and testing of generators and related components to ensure they meet operational and safety standards.
  • Lead and direct qualified crews of technicians and winders, assigning tasks and overseeing work quality and safety.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to team members during all phases of repair and maintenance activities.
  • Serve as the onsite interface with the customer, addressing technical questions, providing status updates, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Assemble detailed job reports that document all technical information, work performed, test results, and scope of services.
  • Travel extensively throughout the year, including some holidays, to domestic and international customer locations as required.
  • Work in a variety of environments, including shop facilities, industrial sites, chemical plants, power plants, and nuclear power stations.
  • Use mechanical assembly skills and tools to perform precise and safe repairs.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell additional repair or maintenance services based on equipment condition and customer needs.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and resources to meet deadlines.
  • Use computer systems to document work, prepare reports, and communicate with internal teams and customers.

Work Environment:

The role is primarily based in a non-climate-controlled shop environment with large-scale industrial equipment and heavy components, requiring comfort working in varying temperatures and conditions. You will also spend significant time at customer sites, including industrial facilities, chemical plants, power plants, and nuclear power stations, each with their own safety protocols and access requirements. The position involves extensive domestic and international travel throughout the year, including some holidays, and may include different shifts depending on project needs.

Personal protective equipment is standard, with support for prescription safety glasses and steel-toed boots, and safety practices are integral to daily operations.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
