Controls Commissioning Engineer — Conveyor Automation

OverviewOn Mission Resources is hiring entry-level Controls Commissioning Engineers to commission, test, and verify new conveyor automation systems nationwide. This is a strong launchpad into broader automation roles (controls design, panel design, power distribution) with hands-on field experience and mentorship.
What You’ll Do- Debug a variety of automation systems and perform system/I/O checkout.
- Support controls and PLC checkout; execute system performance testing.
- Lead small teams of commissioning engineers in the field.
- Verify and validate engineered systems against design and customer specifications.
- Interface with clients and subcontractors; resolve issues to successful closure.
- Design pre-punched enclosures and subpanels using AutoCAD.
- Create and maintain the project “workbook”; pre-check electrical drawings for accuracy/completeness and UL requirements before installation and material orders.
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent commissioning experience.
- 1–3 years’ experience in automation, controls design, or I/O checkout.
- Working knowledge of electrical/controls engineering principles and codes; strong electrical aptitude.
- VFD exposure (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider) a plus.
- PLC exposure (Rockwell Control Logix/Compact Logix, Modicon, Siemens S7) a plus.
- HMI exposure (Rockwell, Wonderware, Ignition, WinCC) a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, verbal, and written communication.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project.
- Comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Able to coordinate small to large projects and make sound, independent decisions.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for industrial electrical systems.
- Capable of designing electrical panels and producing clean schematics in AutoCAD.
This role operates primarily on industrial customer project sites. Strict adherence to safe work practices and situational awareness is essential.
TravelExpect 75–80% travel to project sites across the United States.
Physical DemandsMust be able to perform the essential functions of field commissioning, which may include standing for extended periods, climbing stairs/ladders, lifting equipment/components (with proper technique and assistance as required), and working in industrial environments (noise, moving machinery, PPE).
