This is an exciting opportunity to work in an accredited ISO 17025 laboratory supporting UL and Department of Energy (DOE) testing.
The Engineering Technician Co-op will gain hands-on experience with advanced testing and data acquisition equipment used to validate new energy-efficient motor and control designs for pool, HVAC, automation, and related applications.
As part of a collaborative engineering team, the co-op will assist with testing, analyzing, and documenting motor performance to support Nidec design and application engineers. The role also provides the opportunity to lead an individual project from concept through implementation under the guidance of an experienced engineer.
Responsibilities
- Assist in testing HVAC motors and electronic controls using both manual and automated data acquisition methods.
- Support the development and execution of test procedures for accredited motor testing.
- Assist in creating and implementing test plans focused on efficiency improvements and product performance.
- Collect, organize, and analyze test data using Excel and other software platforms.
- Prepare technical reports and communicate test results to engineering teams.
- Participate in an individual engineering project from conception through implementation under the guidance of an engineer.
- Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
- Available to work a minimum of 25 hours per week during normal business hours.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated technical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Ability to analyze data and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
