Overview

The Factory at the District is seeking a charismatic, organized, and versatile Assistant General Manager who is passionate about operations and setting a new standard for accommodating the needs of venue customers and touring artists. This person will have meticulous attention to detail, an enthusiastic personality, and most importantly, a passion for live music. This is a full-time salaried position that reports to the General Manager and Talent Buyer.

Position Summary

The Assistant General Manager plays a key leadership role in the daily and event-day operations of a high-volume, 3,800-capacity live music venue. This position is hands-on and highly visible, requiring regular work during nights, weekends, and holidays. The AGM supports all aspects of venue operations, staff leadership, and event execution, and serves as a primary decision-maker during events to ensure safe, efficient, and successful shows.

Responsibilities

Event Operations & Show Execution

  • Serve as Manager on Duty for concerts and events, primarily during nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Oversee event execution from load-in through load-out in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Coordinate closely with Production, Security, Guest Services, Box Office, and Food & Beverage teams
  • Ensure staffing levels, operational readiness, and venue presentation meet event demands
  • Enforce venue policies, safety protocols, and operational procedures during events

Leadership & Staff Management

  • Assist with hiring, training, and supervising full-time and part-time staff
  • Provide direct leadership to department managers and frontline staff on event days
  • Support scheduling, labor planning, and timekeeping to control costs while meeting operational needs
  • Lead by example during peak hours and high-pressure situations

Guest Experience & Issue Resolution

  • Maintain a high standard of guest experience in a high-traffic, high-energy environment
  • Handle escalated guest concerns, incidents, and service recovery in real time
  • Support accessibility, crowd flow, and entry/exit operations during sold-out events

Financial & Administrative Support

  • Assist with event settlements, expense tracking, and post-show reporting
  • Monitor labor and operational expenses during events
  • Review invoices, purchase orders, and payroll approvals as assigned

Artist, Promoter & Vendor Coordination

  • Act as an operational point of contact for promoters, tour managers, and vendors on show days
  • Support fulfillment of artist hospitality, technical needs, and contractual obligations
  • Maintain professional, solution-oriented relationships with external partners

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with alcohol service laws, safety regulations, and security protocols
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents, completing required documentation and reports
  • Support ongoing risk assessment and crowd management planning
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in live music venues, event operations, or high-volume hospitality environments
  • Experience working in mid- to large-capacity venues (3,000+ capacity preferred)
  • Proven ability to lead teams during nights, weekends, and high-pressure events
  • Strong operational judgment and real-time problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Comfortable working long hours in loud, crowded, and fast-moving environments

  • Schedule Expectations
    • This role requires a flexible schedule with regular nights, weekends, and holidays
    • Extended hours during back-to-back show weeks and peak seasons are expected
  • Physical requirements:

    ability to stand and walk for extended periods; lift heavy items; work in loud, dark, crowded, and fast-paced environments
