Summary of Position

The Manager Accounting – Biopharma is a critical leadership role within the Finance Department, combining strategic oversight with operational execution. This position is responsible for providing accounting support for the commercialization of ongoing and future R&D business cases. The Manager of Accounting (Biopharma) reports to and supports the Senior Director Accounting in providing financial strategy and analysis. The role demands a balance between strategic leadership and hands-on involvement in daily accounting activities.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm

Essential Functions
  • Must maintain operational compliance with US and international regulatory agencies and guidelines (i.e. FDA, DEA, EU, HC, TGA, PIC/S, ISO, USP, NRC, cGMP, etc.).
  • Manage the intercompany accounting processes across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Review vendor contracts to ensure accurate accounting treatment, proper documentation, and adherence to company policies.
  • Oversee accounting for foreign currency transactions, including rate updates, remeasurement, translation and analysis of currency fluctuations.
  • Review and support accounting for R&D projects, ensuring accurate reporting, capitalization considerations where applicable, and adherence to GAAP/IFRS standards.
  • Demonstrate motivation to expand analytics capabilities, including developing proficiency in Power BI for reporting and visualization.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • CPA or Chartered Accountant highly desired.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP with IFRS knowledge a plus.
  • Minimum 12+ years in financial role, business development, or accounting role.
  • Demonstrated capacity to handle diverse number of projects simultaneously.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with international and cross-functional teams.
  • Independent, inquisitive and a self-starter.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • This position will work in typical office conditions with extensive time using computer equipment.
  • Must possess good hand-eye coordination; close attention to detail required.
  • Willingness to work in a team-based environment.
  • Willingness to travel to and work in manufacturing facilities.
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of 8+ hours a day while performing duties.
  • Willingness to complete safety training within allotted time frames.
  • The position deals with many deadlines. Due to the short turnaround time of deadlines and limited time, overtime is sometimes required.
