Job Overview

This position is responsible for analyzing and interpreting a client’s creditworthiness, evaluating credit risks, and writing credit approval memos for annual renewals and new lending opportunities. The Credit Underwriter II partners closely with the Credit Advisor to develop and expand custom lending relationships with strategic wealth clients, supports responsible and profitable loan and revenue growth, and manages a portfolio of existing credit relationships.

Responsibilities include comprehensive financial analysis to support credit decisions for ultra‑high‑net‑worth clients—individuals, family offices, trusts, and specialized wealth entities—ensuring full adherence to applicable policies, procedures, and underwriting standards.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze client financial performance compared to past performance, projections, and industry standards.
  • Review financial statements, assess compliance with financial covenants, renew risk ratings, and recommend changes as warranted.
  • Assist in underwriting, credit risk analysis, negotiation, and closing of new or existing transactions while adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate transaction and relationship risk‑adjusted profitability to facilitate capital allocation.
  • Build projection models based on historical performance, industry forecasts, and due diligence findings.
  • Train, coach, and mentor Credit Analysts.
Necessary Activities
  • Complete Credit Approval Memos (CAMs) and modifications for complex, custom loan products.
  • Synthesize comprehensive financial information to assess liquidity, leverage, cash flow, key risks, mitigation, and legal structures.
  • Distill complex issues to core components and document findings clearly and concisely.
  • Apply established policies, procedures, and underwriting practices consistently.
  • Provide lending guidance, structural recommendations, and policy expertise during upfront deal discussions.
  • Review, negotiate, and refine loan structures and covenants during documentation.
  • Proactively manage deal pipeline to ensure timely progression of new and existing transactions.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day management of assigned loan portfolio, including collateral releases, SER preparation, renewals, covenant resolution, risk‑rating updates, loan modifications/waivers, and past‑due remediation.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and recommend process improvements.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong financial analysis, accounting skills, and experience structuring deals for borrowers with complex balance sheets and income streams.
  • 3‑5+ years of commercial and/or private wealth management credit experience.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build partnerships with risk, services, and client teams that may not be co‑located.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal credit training and/or experience in commercial or wealth management credit.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or economics.

Minimum Education Requirement

High School Diploma / GED / Secondary School or equivalent.

Pay Transparency

Pay range: $80,000.00 - $ annualized salary, offers determined based on experience, education, and skill set. Discretionary incentive eligible.

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on overall individual performance and contributions.
