This interim Senior Accountant role offers the opportunity to step into a high-impact position supporting financial reporting, internal controls, and overall accounting operations. Working closely with the Controller, this role provides visibility into strategic financial processes including budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.

The position allows an experienced accounting professional to contribute immediately to the organization’s financial health while leading key operational areas such as general ledger management, month-end close, and regulatory compliance. It is well suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing technical accounting responsibilities with leadership and process improvement.

Job Description:

The Interim Senior Accountant plays a critical role in overseeing accounting operations and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. This position assists in managing day-to-day accounting functions while supporting broader financial planning and analysis activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing financial statements, management reports, and supporting analyses
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales tax, payroll, compliance, and general ledger activities
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies
  • Support month‑end and year‑end closing processes
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide financial insights to leadership
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and support internal and external audits
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard organizational assets
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff as needed
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to enhance financial processes and operational efficiency
Qualifications:

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Three or more years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within distribution or a related industry
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience supporting audits, compliance, and internal control environments

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to guide or mentor staff
