Job Description:The Interim Senior Accountant plays a critical role in overseeing accounting operations and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. This position assists in managing day-to-day accounting functions while supporting broader financial planning and analysis activities.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in preparing financial statements, management reports, and supporting analyses
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales tax, payroll, compliance, and general ledger activities
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies
- Support month‑end and year‑end closing processes
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
- Conduct variance analysis and provide financial insights to leadership
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and support internal and external audits
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard organizational assets
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff as needed
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to enhance financial processes and operational efficiency
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Three or more years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within distribution or a related industry
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Experience supporting audits, compliance, and internal control environments
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to guide or mentor staff
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
