Collector of Revenue

Talantage, LLC is seeking a Collector of Revenue to join our client's leadership team. This role reports directly to the Director of Revenue and oversees the operations of the Revenue Office.

The successful candidate will lead the administration and collection of real estate and personal property taxes, ensuring accurate billing, collection, and disbursement of funds across more than 200 taxing districts. This position plays a critical role in funding essential public services throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements for:
    • Billing and collection of ad valorem property taxes and fees
    • Distribution of collected tax revenues to local taxing authorities
    • Annual tabulation of tax rates levied by taxing districts
    • Monthly distribution of collected sales tax revenues to municipalities
  • Oversee the annual tax sale process for delinquent real property, including:
    • Advertising properties
    • Conducting tax sales
    • Issuing purchase certificates or deeds
  • Administer duties as required by:
    • St. Louis County Charter (1979), Article IV, Section 4.370
    • Revised Code of St. Louis County, Title V, Chapter 505, Section 505.040
  • Lead and manage departmental operations by:
    • Developing and implementing strategic initiatives
    • Ensuring achievement of departmental goals
    • Delegating daily operational responsibilities
    • Collaborating with leadership to coordinate work across units
    • Preparing and signing employee performance evaluations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience.
