Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Actuary - Pension - 10483
Location: St. Louis

An independent and regional retirement plan consulting and administration firm is looking for a detailed, driven actuary to join a Defined Benefit team. This individual will serve as a Pension Actuary, providing actuarial and consulting support to a current client base of group retirement plans. The role offers exposure and growth across many types of clients and a great deal of responsibility.

It is ideal for an actuary who wants to manage their own ‘book of business’. Clients will include single‑employer pension plans, multi‑employer pension plans, governmental pension plans, and cash‑balance plans.

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of pension actuarial experience. The role can be flexible and molded to fit the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Ability to fully manage a client portfolio of pension plans from day1 (client relationship, valuation, government filings, etc.).
  • Ideally possess an ASA/EA designation at a minimum with FSA preferred. Willing to consider 5+ years experience and maybe just an ASA or EA while still pursuing credentials.
  • Self‑driven, entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interest in programming is a plus.

This is NOT a remote role and does require the individual to work onsite in an office. A hybrid schedule is possible.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare/Review Defined Benefit, Cash Balance, Welfare and associated valuations.
  • Corporate, Public and Taft‑Hartley plan administration.
  • Prepare/Review benefit calculations and IRS/PBGC Forms and filings.
  • Assist in Plan design and review of Plan Documents.
  • Consult on all aspects of plan operation.
  • Potential for cross exposure into investment space as well.
