Interim Accountant

Beech Valley is seeking an experienced Interim Accountant to support a healthcare organization in the St. Louis area. Reporting directly to the Controller, this hands‑on leadership role will oversee core accounting and finance operations while providing stability during a transition period. The ideal candidate brings strong healthcare industry experience and a proven track record managing month‑end close, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting teams.

• Lead and manage the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
• Supervise day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts payable and payroll oversight
• Partner closely with the Controller on financial reporting, analysis, and operational priorities
• Review account reconciliations and maintain strong internal controls
• Manage and mentor a team of four accounting professionals
• Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for process improvement
• Support ongoing finance and accounting initiatives as needed

• Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting experience
• Healthcare industry experience required
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
• Experience leading month‑end close processes in a complex organization
• Demonstrated success managing and developing accounting teams
• Strong understanding of accounts payable, payroll, and general accounting operations
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work onsite and quickly step into a leadership role

• Hospital or health system experience
• Experience working directly with executive leadership and Controllers
• Background in process improvement or finance transformation initiatives
