job description summary

the data services specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and maintenance of client and portfolio data within core operating systems across multiple business lines. This role supports the day-to-day operations of a large financial advisory firm by maintaining critical data systems, supporting reconciliation and performance review processes and resolving data-related issues. Focus provides team members the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule.

Our hybrid model is defined as 3 days in office work required per week, while giving team members the option to work remotely 2 days per week, or as assigned by their team leader.

primary responsibilities
  • collaborate with team members, internal and external contacts to support daily data services operations, resolve issues, and obtain information necessary to achieve department objectives.
  • perform new account setup, account maintenance and account updates.
  • support cost basis maintenance, tax lot updates and cost disposal methods.
  • manage workflows through various platforms and systems, ensuring operational efficiency across all channels.
  • identify, investigate, and resolve account, position, and reconciliation issues.
  • conduct performance and validation activities by researching and resolving performance related discrepancies.
  • communicate with and monitor external vendors and internal partners.
  • classify securities using the standards established by the investment team.
  • develop and maintain a strong understanding of departmental processes and organizational business practices.
qualifications
  • bachelor’s degree and/or 1+years of relevant experience in data management, preferably within financial services.
  • proficiency with windows operating systems and microsoft office suite.
  • experience with orion, custodial platforms, salesforce, and portfolio management systems preferred.
  • experience with reconciliation processes preferred.
  • knowledge of investment products and securities preferred.
  • experience with financial reporting or portfolio accounting.
  • demonstrated ability to learn new systems, tools, and processes quickly.
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  • collaborative team player with an aptitude for imparting knowledge to others.
  • meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy.
  • strong organizational skills, thriving in fast-paced environments.
  • demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

the data services specialist is a non-exempt position. The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $50,000-$51,000 yearly. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant's skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.

Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
