Role Description The Tax Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in St. Louis, MO. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing financial information, identifying tax-saving opportunities, supporting tax planning strategies, and responding to tax-related inquiries from clients and internal team members.
The Tax Specialist will collaborate with advisors and planners to integrate tax considerations into broader wealth management plans and will stay current on changes in tax law that impact client portfolios. Additional responsibilities include maintaining detailed documentation, supporting tax projections, and participating in client meetings as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong tax planning skills, including the ability to identify strategies that optimize client tax outcomes.
- Hands-on experience with tax preparation and review for individuals, businesses, and trusts.
- Solid understanding of tax concepts and their application within broader finance and wealth management contexts.
- Working knowledge of tax law and regulations, with the ability to research and interpret complex rules.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Office; experience with financial planning tools is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to explain tax concepts to clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment and maintain strict confidentiality.
