The Radiation Oncology Department houses a variety of therapeutic equipment, including 8 linear accelerators, a full brachytherapy suite, a Gamma Knife center, two CT simulators and a dedicated MRI unit. Radiation Oncology is also building a proton facility due to open in January 2010. The department supports two radiation therapy technology programs and a medical dosimeter programs via affiliations with local universities.

This position provides support to the clinical care team under the direction of the nursing staff. Duties include support of the outpatient visit through selected tasks according to practice protocols and procedures.

• Cleans, prepares and stocks supplies in exam rooms.
• Performs clinical skills such as point of care testing and EKGs. Maintains accurate and prompt documentation in the medical record.
• Supports the outpatient encounter with knowledge of patient flow (including scheduling appointments, tests, and lab work), insurance processes, and coordination of resources including durable medical equipment.
• Assist, as trained, in outpatient procedural visits through duties such as the set-up of instruments, labeling of specimens, and general chaperoning of patient exams.
• Obtains patient information including vital signs, patient histories and other health information through the medical record and patient screening. Relays important information to the health care team in a timely manner.
