The Department of Neuroscience at WashU Medicine seeks investigators with the passion to create knowledge, pursue bold visions, and challenge canonical thinking to join us in our new, state‑of‑the art 10‑story purpose‑built neurosciences research building.

We are seeking tenure track investigators at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor to join our community of world class researchers in neuroscience. Applicants can be from any area of molecular, cellular, circuits, systems, cognitive, or computational and theoretical neuroscience. Applicants should have a proven ability to perform outstanding research, and a passion to pursue fundamental questions in basic neuroscience or technology development using cellular, animal, human, and/or computational models.

We especially encourage applications from researchers who integrate approaches across levels of analysis.

The Department of Neuroscience focuses on fundamental neuroscience. Investigators in the department seek to understand the nervous system development, the formation of synapses and neural circuits underlying behavior, neuromodulation and the function of glia. There are exceptional opportunities for research translation at WashU and our Department has close partnerships with other clinical, basic science and engineering departments. Areas of strength include understanding mechanisms of brain developmental disorders, sleep and circadian rhythms, sensory systems, learning and memory, decision making, and the circuits and computations underlying large‑scale brain dynamics and motor control.
