Responsibilities
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic person to join St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute's Intake team as an Intake Specialist. The position is full-time, 40 hours a week, with benefits, and requires working in the office Monday–Friday, between 7 am–6 pm (8‑hour shift with a 30‑minute lunch). This back‑office role does not involve in‑person interactions with patients.
As an Intake Specialist, you will schedule potential patients seeking mental health treatment is Behavioral Medicine Institute (SLBMI). You will collect demographic and basic information via phone and email.
Ideal candidates are well‑versed at navigating electronic‑based information and can communicate effectively over the phone. Organization and attention to detail are critical.
QualificationsQualification preferences:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, with strong consideration for candidates holding degrees in psychology, counseling, social work, or closely related fields, or having at least one year of experience with intake screenings or customer‑service telephone etiquette.
Knowledge/skills requirements:
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with patients, referral sources, insurance companies, and colleagues;
- Proficiency in use of email, internet, and telephone;
- Professionalism in presentation with patients and colleagues;
- Problem‑solving and customer‑service oriented;
- Computer knowledge; prior EMR experience preferred;
- Excellent communication and screening skills;
- Skill in working independently and implementing time‑management strategies;
- Ability to demonstrate positive team interactions;
- Knowledge of office management systems and procedures;
- Knowledge of administrative procedures;
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
