OPCO Skilled Management is seeking an experienced Regional Director of Business Development to lead growth initiatives across the St. Louis market. This role is ideal for a strategic healthcare sales leader with strong hospital relationships and deep knowledge of long-term care, post-acute networks, and referral development.
Position SummaryThe Regional Director of Business Development is responsible for driving census growth, building referral partnerships, and executing regional marketing strategies that support organizational growth and profitability. This position oversees territory-level sales efforts, develops high-level referral relationships, and represents the organization across hospitals, physician groups, and post-acute networks.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain strong referral partnerships with hospitals, physicians, discharge planners, case managers, and senior service organizations
Drive census growth and quality payer mix by meeting or exceeding occupancy goals
Develop and execute short- and long-term business development and marketing strategies
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned territory
Strengthen relationships with post-acute networks, ACOs, Preferred Provider Networks, and BPCI/BPCI-A partners
Create and manage individualized hospital and referral source plans
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and referral patterns to inform strategy
Collect, analyze, and report marketing and census data to leadership
Prepare required reports including weekly schedules, activity logs, and action plans
Collaborate with clinical and operational leadership to ensure alignment between services and referral expectations
Support marketing coverage needs during unplanned vacancies when required
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Healthcare Administration, or related field (preferred)
5+ years of experience in long-term care, post-acute, or healthcare services
2+ years of experience in marketing strategy, data analysis, and business development (required)
3+ years of consultative healthcare sales experience (preferred)
Strong understanding of hospital discharge processes, referral development, and census management
Proven ability to build and maintain executive-level healthcare relationships
Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills
