Description:
Perform simulations, brachytherapy procedures, and deliver radiation therapy treatment to patients as prescribed by the radiation oncologist.
Maintain accurate records of treatments.
Greet each patient warmly and explain the treatment procedure.
Address any questions or concerns in a caring manner.
Render proper care and comfort to the patient during positioning and immobilization.
Utilize correct accessory equipment according to the treatment plan.
Verify prescription, diagnosis, and patient identification with 100% accuracy at first treatment.
Before delivering each treatment, verify the prescription and mechanics of the treatment plan to ensure proper delivery.
Independently perform kv/kv imaging, cone beam imaging, and mv imaging.
Troubleshoot problems as they arise.
Select and deliver the energy and dose as prescribed with no more than 1 discrepancy per year.
Maintain constant audio/visual contact with the patient to assure privacy and dignity.
Perform required imaging procedures on the first day of treatment.
Ensure physician approvals on images prior to treatment.
Conduct morning quality assurance as assigned.
Participate in all mandatory annual activities and training for new or updated software and equipment.
Rotate between different treatment modalities and maintain functionality in each area.
Properly utilize Gating software during treatments.
Follow imaging processes and treatment guidelines for SA and SRS as outlined in policy.
Evaluate and maintain patient information and records thoroughly.
Verify imaging accuracy prior to delivery of second treatment.
Record patient weight weekly or as directed by the physician.
Confirm that images are taken as per physician prescription in patient management system.
Maintain accurate records of OTV finishers on the physician and physics task pad.
Provide necessary information for upcoming inpatient schedules.
Participate in weekly chart reviews to ensure appropriate charge capture.
Verify that proper patient information is in the electronic chart during weekly checks.
Participate in purging records as needed.
Accurately scan patient documents into designated areas.
Weigh patients weekly as instructed and document weights on treatment charts.
Ensure patients are seen by the radiation oncologist at least once every five treatments.
Observe patients daily for radiation-related side effects and report progress respectfully.
Explain simulation procedures to patients courteously and answer questions.
Assist the radiation oncologist with the simulation process while ensuring patient comfort.
