Summary
This position serves as the Lead Supply Technician (Medical) for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of Logistics Service. As a Lead Supply Technician, you will ensure supplies and materials are distributed to all areas serviced by Logistics, providing wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and materials including but not limited to sterile and non‑sterile medical supplies, instrument sets, and equipment.
QualificationsTime‑In‑Grade Requirement
:
Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time‑in‑grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS‑6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS‑5. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in Federal service.
An SF‑50 that shows your time‑in‑grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF‑50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one‑year time‑in‑grade as required by the announcement. In this instance you must provide an additional SF‑50 that clearly demonstrates one‑year time‑in‑grade. Time‑In‑Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑5 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience includes distributing supplies and materials—sterile and non‑sterile medical supplies, instrument sets, and equipment—to all areas of the facility; scanning, bar‑coding, receiving, storing, and distributing supplies; training new employees;
maintaining current knowledge and answering questions on procedures, policies, etc.; maintaining stock through pull‑out and replenishment; recording stock levels; monitoring expiration dates and rotating stock; cleaning assigned areas according to aseptic principles; and receiving supplies into the facility.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
:
The job involves standing and walking throughout the workday, frequent bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally up to 50 pounds), pushing loaded carts (exceeding 100 pounds), and moving heavier items over 40 pounds with assistance or equipment. Tasks include operating ADP equipment such as bar‑code scanners, computers, and printers across hospital areas that range from clean to drafty environments. The role carries the risk of trips, falls, cuts, bruises, and other injuries.
Supplies will be stocked in primary and secondary inventory areas throughout wards, clinics, operating rooms, warehouses, and nursing areas, requiring a clean environment amidst dust or other pollutants.
