Missouri Baptist Medical Center
, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The Clinical Laboratory at Missouri Baptist Medical Center is committed to improving the health and wellness of patients through our expertise in laboratory medicine and strong customer service. The laboratory performs over 1 million tests annually with a focus on providing accurate and timely results and services to patients and the community we serve.

The laboratory is fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB).

Role Purpose

Responsible for managing daily operations (equipment, workflow, service levels, procedures) and staff (first level supervision, scheduling, coaching, staff development, etc) within regulatory requirements.

• Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
• Supervises laboratory activities to ensure that procedures are performed promptly, accurately, and precisely according to department and hospital policies and procedures.
• May participate in the development of departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets and having direct responsibility for adhering to those goals. This includes responding to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
• Schedules staff and assign work to ensure that laboratory procedures are performed promptly proficiently, and accurately. (When necessary the supervisor is expected to perform tasks routinely assigned to direct reports.)
