OverviewMissouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24‑hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St.
Louis Children’s Hospital. Missouri Baptist is the first and only hospital in St. Louis County to be named a Magnet® hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The prestigious designation is the highest credential a health care organization can receive for nursing excellence and quality patient care. The Digestive Disease Center offers a full range of diagnostic and interventional endoscopy services for inpatients and outpatients with gastrointestinal or pulmonary disease. The Center includes six holding beds, nine endoscopy treatment rooms and 16 recovery beds.
Under the direction of an RN and/or physician, the Endoscopy technician assists with diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including transporting patients, disinfecting and processing equipment, preparing the procedure room, and assisting in patient care.
Responsibilities- Processes instruments and equipment, orders and keeps inventory of supplies, and maintains equipment.
- Maintains database for endoscopy, and keeps accurate statistics pertinent to endoscopy.
- Transports patients and assists patients with changing.
- Trains staff in areas specific to endoscopy instrument processing, supplies and the maintenance of equipment.
