Position: Radiology Technologist - Days
Location: St. Louis

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Radiology Director and Manager produces quality diagnostic medical radiographs, including OR, Fluoro, Dexa, or EOS, to ensure proper diagnosis and quality patient care.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Demonstrate skills to produce quality radiographs (50% of time).
    • Produce quality images using appropriate exposure technique to ensure proper penetration.
    • Use metal markers and/or electronic placement of markers.
    • Document appropriate patient history with pertinent information and limitations.
    • Ensure physician orders are written and verified prior to the exam.
    • Perform OR/Surgery cases using C-arms and portable machines efficiently.
    • Supervise and teach Radiology student exams and procedures during clinical rotations and provide feedback.
    • Communicate technical information appropriately to patients, co‑workers, etc.
    • Respond to workload changes using departmental time advantage.
  • Maintain departmental policies, safety, environmental, and infection control standards (5% of time).
    • Keep work area clean and orderly.
    • Adhere to hospital safety and infection control policies.
    • Report faulty equipment.
    • Use protective equipment as needed.
    • Practice radiation safety for patients, self, and co‑workers.
    • Wear radiation dosimetry badge daily.
  • Attend departmental in‑services and meetings (5% of time).
    • Attend orientations and required in‑services.
    • Attend departmental meetings or review meeting minutes sent through the MOX system in Meditech.
    • Review education poster boards located in the department.
  • Perform other duties as needed by supervisors (5% of time).
    • Show cooperation and professionalism in all hospital areas.
    • Display initiative and enthusiasm for non‑routine or extra duties.
    • Seek out duties that need to be done without being told.
  • Safety/Infection Control practices (5% of time).
    • Practice universal precautions and dispose of hazardous wastes per guidelines.
    • Maintain a safe, clean, comfortable therapeutic environment.
    • Report risk management concerns.
    • Complete all annual mandatory safety courses:
      Safety/Fire, Blood Borne Pathogen, Hazardous Communication, TB, Department Specific, Age Appropriate Care, HIPAA, assigned .EDU courses.
    • Ensure all patients properly identified using armband or two unique identifiers.
    • Remain alert and work safely.
  • Participate in continuing education (5% of time).
    • Obtain 24 CE points every 2 years per ASRT regulation.
    • Maintain a good standing rating with the ASRT.
  • Provide excellent service (10% of time).
    • Show respect, compassion, and patience to patients and coworkers.
    • Follow hospital confidentiality policy and HIPAA guidelines.
    • Recognize diverse needs of others.
    • Demonstrate teamwork and willingness to work with others.
    • Answer questions knowledgeably or direct appropriately.
  • Performance Improvement (5% of time).
    • Review QI, QA, & QC monthly and provide data to Radiology management.
  • Use Hospital/Radiology Information system (5% of time).
    • Enter information into Radiology module correctly and timely.
    • Provide training and direction to co‑workers as needed.
    • Move completed exams to taken status within 30 min to meet reporting turnaround.
    • Enter/edit exams as needed and print consent forms from Meditech.
    • Check MOX email system for messages; send professional, appropriate responses.
  • Age Appropriate Care (5% of time).
    • Demonstrate knowledge of normal growth and development for ages served.
    • Assess and interpret age‑specific data to identify patient needs.
    • Use appropriate communication skills for age groups.
Job Specifications
  • Minimum Education: Graduate of a Radiology Technology program and registry eligible.
  • Minimum Experience: Two years Radiology Technology experience preferred.
  • Required Course: BLS.
  • Working Conditions: Exposure to blood and body fluid; exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and other biological hazards; subject to varying or unpredictable situations.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for long periods; lift, push, pull 100+ pounds; move or transfer patients; withstand strenuous daily activity with radiographic equipment.
