About the Role
Le Méridien St. Louis Downtown is seeking a polished, hands‑on Assistant General Manager to help lead the hotel’s daily operations, guest experience, associate engagement, and brand execution.
This is not a traditional “manager on duty” position. We are looking for a hospitality leader who can partner closely with the General Manager, support department leaders, protect the details, and help shape the next chapter of a downtown lifestyle hotel.
The ideal candidate understands that great hospitality is both operational and emotional
. It is clean rooms, smooth arrivals, strong communication, thoughtful service recovery, confident leadership, and a team that knows exactly what is expected of them.
This role is a strong fit for someone who can read a report, walk the building, coach a supervisor, calm an upset guest, support the front desk, inspect a guest room, and still recognize that hospitality should feel personal.
What You’ll DoThe Assistant General Manager will support the General Manager in leading day-to-day hotel operations while ensuring the property delivers a refined, consistent, and guest-focused experience.
Key responsibilities include:- Lead daily hotel operations and serve as Manager on Duty as needed.
- Maintain a visible leadership presence in the lobby, front office, public areas, guest rooms, and food and beverage spaces.
- Support Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, Food & Beverage, Sales, and Accounting with clear communication and follow-through.
- Resolve guest concerns with professionalism, urgency, and sound judgment.
- Monitor guest feedback, service scores, online reviews, and recovery opportunities.
- Conduct regular property walks to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, safety, lighting, music, scent, signage, and overall presentation meet brand expectations.
- Help train, coach, recognize, and hold associates accountable.
- Support scheduling, labor awareness, expense control, purchasing discipline, and productivity goals.
- Review arrivals, VIPs, group activity, occupancy trends, service issues, and operational needs.
- Help create systems, checklists, communication rhythms, and accountability tools that improve hotel performance.
- Support the hotel’s relaunch energy by bringing fresh ideas, strong execution, and a high standard of hospitality leadership.
Success in this role means the hotel feels organized, intentional, and alive.
Guests feel welcomed and confidently cared for.
Associates know what is expected and feel supported.
Departments communicate before issues become guest-facing.
The building is clean, ready, and polished.
Problems are not just fixed — they are followed up on, learned from, and prevented.
The right Assistant General Manager will help create a culture where service feels warm, operations feel disciplined, and the hotel consistently represents the Le Méridien brand with pride.
What We’re Looking ForWe are looking for someone who is:
- Polished, professional, and guest-facing.
- Hands‑on without needing to be asked.
- Calm under pressure and confident in decision‑making.
- Direct, but respectful.
- Creative, but operationally grounded.
- Comfortable leading through both presence and process.
- Passionate about hospitality, service, and team development.
Required:
- Previous hotel leadership experience in Front Office, Rooms, Operations, or Assistant General Manager capacity.
- Strong guest service recovery and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to lead teams with clarity, professionalism, and accountability.
- Understanding of hotel operations, scheduling, labor controls, brand standards, and guest satisfaction.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional appearance and executive presence.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods.
Preferred:
- Full‑service, lifestyle, boutique, or Marriott‑branded hotel experience.
- Experience with hotel openings, reopenings, renovations, or major operational transitions.

This is an opportunity to help build culture, restore momentum, and shape the guest experience at a distinctive downtown St. Louis hotel.
We are looking for an Assistant General Manager who wants more than a title. We want someone who takes ownership, leads with taste and discipline, supports the team, protects the guest experience, and helps the hotel move with purpose.
If you are a hospitality leader who believes the details matter, the team matters, and the guest should feel the difference, we would love to meet you.
