SALARY: $82,400-$92,700, bonus eligible

ROLE

SUMMARY:

The Payroll Systems Manager (HRIS) must be detail‑oriented with a strong analytical mindset. This role is not responsible for day‑to‑day payroll processing , but instead focuses on the technology, configuration, data integrity, and process analysis that enable accurate and timely payroll outcomes.

The role partners closely with vendors, key People Business Partners, and Hourly Payroll Managers to ensure pay systems are accurately configured and compliant, supporting error‑free payroll processing. The Payroll Systems Manager is tech‑savvy, process‑driven, and continuously focused on improvement while maintaining legal and collective bargaining agreement (CBA) compliance. This role works closely with the Sr. Payroll Systems Manager to support related systems initiatives and priorities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own the configuration, administration, and optimization of enterprise payroll and timekeeping systems (SAP, Workday, Dayforce, Kronos, etc.)
  • Lead requirements gathering, system design, and solution architecture for payroll technology changes
  • Translate business, HR, finance, and labor requirements into technical system specifications and Serve as the escalation point and systems SME for complex payroll technology issues.
  • Prioritize incoming configuration requests and either make changes or serve as a liaison with the applicable vendor to obtain desired results
  • Partner with IT Support to maintain the timekeeping system interface feeds
  • Participate in process improvement or project teams for the identification and resolution of process issues through the development of new automation tools
  • Routinely meet weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines
  • Lead process improvement or project teams for the identification and resolution of process issues
  • Conduct special analysis as required to provide understanding of business or financial performance to improve performance or close gaps
  • Prepare and present reports to business managers to illustrate the results of analysis and recommended actions
  • Perform complex transactional responsibilities within the assigned area of responsibility, including, but not limited to, data and account analysis and variance reporting
  • Requires flexibility to meet critical deadlines – will include some extended days & holiday support



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • 3+ years of experience in Payroll Systems, HRIS, or Workforce Technology, with demonstrated ownership of system configuration, enhancements, or integrations
  • 2+ years’ experience handling complex problems and determining action plans
  • A commitment to finding innovative ways to improve processes continually
  • A relentless drive to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to understand employment contracts and manage critical deadlines.
