Position:
Learning & Development Intern
Program Duration: 10 Weeks (June-August)
Location:
On-Site, with Rotation Between Key Training Sites (Lindenwood, Arnold, Lemay, Chesterfield)
Position Overview
The Learning & Development Internship at Midwest Bank Centre offers an immersive introduction to employee development and adult learning strategy. This role is designed for students interested in human resources, training and development, or organizational leadership. Interns will assist in the design, coordination, and facilitation of learning programs while gaining exposure to the broader consumer banking environment.
Core Responsibilities
Program Support:
Assist in organizing and delivering various development programs including attendance tracking, follow-up communication, engagement activities, and survey analysis.
Retail Training Observation:
Attend the Retail Training Program and evaluate it from a new hire perspective; contribute ideas for improvement.
Onboarding Resource Creation:
Collaborate with Retail Training participants and a Retail Focus Group to create onboarding packets for six core training modules.
Facilitation Preparation:
Serve as a facilitator-in-training for New Employee Orientation, gradually building confidence in leading discussions.
SharePoint Management:
Assist in updating and improving the Learning & Development SharePoint site.
Focus Group
Collaboration:
Co-lead group discussions and assist with developing new tools and job aids based on employee feedback.
Desired Qualifications
Open to undergraduate students at all levels pursuing studies in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, Communications, or related fields.
Comfortable with public speaking and group facilitation.
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and basic knowledge of SharePoint is a plus (not required).
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Enthusiastic about employee engagement and continuous learning.
Learning Objectives & Outcomes
By the end of the internship, interns will:
Understand the key components of adult learning theory and how to apply them in corporate training environments.
Gain confidence leading conversations and facilitating small group sessions.
Learn the fundamentals of program evaluation and onboarding resource development.
Strengthen communication, project planning, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Experience working across multiple locations and within an HR team that supports company-wide training initiatives.
General Program Structure
Weekly Development Sessions (goal setting, communication, leadership, etc.)
Cross-functional Group Project culminating in a final executive presentation
Networking events, team-building activities, and bank-wide experiences
Mentorship from HR and Learning & Development professionals
