HR Manager – Distribution Center Operations | St. Louis, MO
Mid-size Company is seeking a hands‑on, operations‑minded HR Manager to support our fast‑paced Distribution Center in metro St. Louis, Missouri
. This role partners closely with Distribution Center leadership to drive workforce performance, strengthen culture, and ensure consistent, compliant HR practices. The ideal candidate thrives in an operational environment and excels at building strong relationships across all levels of the organization. This is an on‑site role that will require daily presence during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, at our Distribution Center.
You’ll Do People & Culture
- Advise Distribution Center leadership on workforce planning, talent strategy, and organizational design
- Champion a positive, inclusive culture aligned with company values
- Lead change management efforts tied to operational and organizational initiatives
- Manage complex employee relations issues, investigations, and corrective actions
- Ensure consistent policy application and compliance with federal and Missouri employment laws
- Coach supervisors and managers to strengthen communication and leadership effectiveness
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to support hiring for operations roles
- Build relationships with local agencies and workforce partners
- Monitor staffing levels, retention, and onboarding effectiveness
- Oversee new hire orientation and skill‑based training
- Support leadership development for frontline supervisors
- Identify training gaps and implement targeted solutions
- Administer attendance, leaves, performance reviews, and compensation changes
- Maintain accurate HRIS data and compliance documentation
- Conduct audits to ensure adherence to EEO, FMLA, ADA, and safety requirements
- Partner with Safety on incident investigations and workers’ compensation
- Support safety culture initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
- Provide HR guidance during operational changes such as shift adjustments or peak‑season planning
- Track key HR metrics, including turnover, retention, attendance, and engagement
- Present insights and recommend strategies to improve workforce performance
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of HR generalist/manager experience in distribution, manufacturing, or high‑volume operations
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
- Experience managing investigations and employee relations
- High integrity, sound judgment, and strong communication skills
- Clear, direct communication with diverse teams and multilingual work forces
- Ability to coach supervisors on leadership, accountability, and performance management
- Comfortable implementing new systems, processes, and organizational changes
- Experience with UKG and Microsoft Office; comfort with workforce analytics
- Fast‑paced distribution center with regular floor presence
- Occasional travel for training or corporate initiatives
- Extended hours may be required during peak seasons
