We have an outstanding Contract position for a Smart Hand Technician to join a leading Company located in the St Louis, MO surrounding area.
US Citizenship is required.
Candidate must possess an Active Secret Security Clearance.
- Provide on-site support during network builds, upgrades, and migrations
- Install, rack, stack, and cable network equipment, including:
- Wireless Access Points (APs)
- Routers and switches
- Firewalls and related network appliances
- Perform structured cabling tasks (copper and fiber), including labeling and basic testing
- Mount and install wireless access points, antennas, and associated hardware
- Assist with device staging, power‑on, and basic configuration under the direction of remote engineers
- Validate physical connectivity, link status, and basic network functionality
- Follow installation runbooks, diagrams, and engineering instructions precisely
- Document installations, including photos, cable labeling, and as‑built updates
- Coordinate with remote network engineers to troubleshoot physical‑layer and device issues
- Maintain compliance with site security, safety, and change management procedures
- Active U.S. Security Clearance
- Experience as a Network Technician, Field Technician, or similar role
- Solid hands‑on experience with campus networking environments
- Demonstrated ability to install and support:
- Wireless access points
- Routers and switches
- Common campus networking hardware
- Knowledge of basic networking concepts (IP addressing, VLANs, ports, link status)
- Ability to read network diagrams, cable schedules, and installation instructions
- Comfortable working in IDFs/MDFs, ceilings, and equipment rooms
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures
- Experience working in secure, government, or DoD facilities
- Familiarity with enterprise networking vendors (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, Arista, Ubiquiti)
- Experience with fiber termination or advanced cable testing
- Basic understanding of wireless networking concepts
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Network+, CCNA, CWNA) are a plus
