Position Overview

We are seeking a collaborative and experienced Senior SQL Developer to support and mentor an internal team on the integration and optimization of a homegrown SQL database and Power BI reporting environment. This role is ideal for a senior-level professional who enjoys coaching, guiding best practices, and helping teams mature their data and development processes. While technical expertise is important, we are prioritizing strong communication skills, mentorship ability, and a consultative mindset.

The right candidate will act as a trusted advisor, helping the team implement scalable solutions and improve workflows rather than serving solely as a hands‑on developer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical coaching and mentorship to internal teams on SQL development, data architecture, and reporting practices.
  • Guide implementation of Git Hub source control across database and reporting projects.
  • Support integration of Power BI reporting with Azure SQL environments.
  • Recommend and help implement efficient data ingestion and transformation processes using Azure Data Factory or similar tools.
  • Establish and promote database design and development best practices.
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to improve data workflows and reporting accuracy.
  • Review existing processes and recommend improvements for scalability, maintainability, and performance.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong experience as a SQL Developer or Data Engineer in enterprise environments.
  • Expertise with Microsoft SQL Server and database best practices.
  • Experience working with Power BI and data visualization/reporting solutions.
  • Familiarity with Azure SQL and cloud-based data architectures.
  • Experience implementing or working with source control (Git Hub preferred).
  • Strong mentoring, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a flexible, part‑time consulting capacity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory or similar data ingestion tools.
  • Background guiding teams through process improvements or technical modernization initiatives.
  • Experience working with custom or legacy database environments.
