Job Description

University of Missouri–St. Louis is seeking a Business Intelligence & Data Analytics Manager to provide strategic leadership for the university’s growing BI and analytics function. The role is central to establishing and advancing a campus wide data strategy that supports evidence‑based decision‑making, institutional effectiveness, and long‑term operational sustainability.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Change Management
  • Provide strategic direction for UMSL’s Business Intelligence & Data Analytics function, aligning BI initiatives with institutional priorities and leadership needs.
  • Lead organizational change related to BI implementation and adoption, fostering a data‑driven culture across campus.
  • Collaborate with Institutional Research, Information Technology, Research Administration, and other partners to advance data governance policies and practices.
Stakeholder Engagement & BI Solution Development
  • Partner with university leadership, academic units, and administrative departments to identify analytics needs and priorities.
  • Translate business requirements into effective dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions.
  • Communicate insights, progress, and outcomes to senior leaders and campus stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
  • Build and lead a growing BI team, including hiring and supervising professional staff.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development to ensure team effectiveness and growth.
  • Maintain hands‑on technical capability to support BI development as needed.
Training, Data Literacy & Continuous Improvement
  • Design and deliver BI training, workshops, and user‑group sessions to improve institutional data literacy.
  • Develop documentation, user guidance, and dashboards for varied campus audiences.
  • Lead efforts to improve data integrity, analytics processes, and reporting efficiency.
Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement
  • Work closely with executive leadership to align BI strategy with institutional goals.
  • Lead efforts to improve data integrity, analytics processes, and reporting efficiency.
  • Support departments in improving data collection, retention, and usage practices.
Shift

40 hours/week, Monday‑Friday

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and at least four years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, economics, analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience using Microsoft Power BI (data modeling, report design, and DAX) and SQL.
  • Experience with enterprise analytics strategy, institutional reporting, and data governance—preferably within higher education, healthcare, public sector, or similarly complex organizations.
  • Experience leading or supporting BI implementation initiatives, including training and user adoption.

Salary Range: $95,000–110,000 annually
