Technology Specialist - Sperreng Middle School

Starting Date: Immediately

Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Summary

The Technology Specialist role provides comprehensive technical support to ensure students, staff, and administrators have reliable access to district technology resources. This role serves as the primary on-site technology liaison for the assigned campus, providing consistent and reliable support. The position contributes directly to creating a seamless, technology-enabled learning environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide timely on-site technical support for students and staff by diagnosing and resolving hardware, operating system, software, and building-level connectivity issues.
  • Support and maintain student iPads, staff Mac Books, Chromebooks, and Windows devices, ensuring devices are functional and instruction‑ready.
  • Support classroom computer labs, ensuring they are maintained and operating smoothly.
  • Troubleshoot and support instructional software, district applications, user accounts, permissions, and access‑related issues.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain classroom technology including projectors, displays, and audio systems.
  • Document, prioritize, and manage service requests through the district help desk system (Incident IQ), ensuring accurate tracking and follow‑through.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs, and proactively identify recurring issues or trends to minimize instructional disruption.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with staff regarding issue status, timelines, and resolutions.
  • Device Lifecycle & Asset Management:
    • Prepare, deploy, assign, and collect student and staff devices.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records using Incident IQ.
    • Assist with annual refresh cycles and summer device and equipment preparation.
  • Projects & Implementation:
    • Participate in district technology projects, building-level initiatives, and other duties as assigned.
    • Contribute to the development and refinement of department procedures and best practices.
  • Training &

    Collaboration:
    • Provide guidance and informal training to staff and contribute to technical documentation.
    • Serve as the primary technology liaison between assigned buildings and the district technology department.
    • Maintain professional, service-oriented relationships with students and staff.
Qualifications
  • Required:
    • Two years of experience in technology support or related field.
    • Strong technical skills and knowledge of iPadOS, macOS, Chrome

      OS, and Windows operating systems.
    • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and basic network connectivity issues.
    • Ability to manage equipment inventory and maintain accurate records.
    • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and customer-service skills.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple requests in a dynamic school environment.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience supporting educational technology environments.
    • Familiarity with mobile device management systems.
    • Experience supporting classroom AV systems and instructional technology tools.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to lift and transport technology equipment up to 35 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and working under desks or in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work on standard step ladders when servicing equipment.
  • Work performed in typical school and office environments.
  • Ability to travel between assigned buildings and other district locations as needed; employees must provide reliable personal transportation.
