HELP DESK TECHNICIAN

Full Time Saint Louis, MO, US

The St. Louis Public Library is seeking a Help Desk Technician to join the Technology Department. The Help Desk Technician is responsible for providing Level 1 support to Library staff. We are looking for an ideal candidate who is willing to learn everything and are enthusiastic about helping people.

In this role you will:
  • Respond to incoming telephone calls and Help Desk ticket requests from users experiencing problems with hardware and other equipment.
  • Respond to incoming telephone calls and Help Desk ticket requests from users experiencing problems with basic software.
  • Provide basic support for problems with desktops, laptops, Chrome devices, printers, scanners, mobile devices, etc.
  • Thoroughly document troubleshooting progress in ticketing system.
  • Troubleshoot issues before escalating tickets to the next level of support.
  • Image and install new computers.
  • Follow surplus procedures for equipment that is no longer needed.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of technology equipment.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
You will need to have:
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school.
  • 1-3 years of technology work experience.
  • CompTIA A+ certification preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical users.
  • An ability to prioritize and multitask, troubleshoot, and problem‑solve.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • An ability to work well as a team member.
  • Dependable vehicle for the purpose of responding to support calls at all SLPL locations.
You will need to be skilled in:
  • Windows 10 and 11 desktop systems.
  • Hardware support.
  • Google Workspace.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
You will earn:
