Title & Summary

Site Reliability Engineer II – Join Mastercard’s Payment Network Business Operations team to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of Mastercard’s global application environment. In this role you will drive production readiness, automate operational tasks, mentor developers, and manage risk and compliance across all platforms.

About

The Role

The Business Operations Site Reliability Engineer is a production readiness steward responsible for maintaining a stable, healthy platform. You will support daily operations with a focus on triage, root‑cause analysis, and blameless post‑mortems while collaborating with developers to embed operational excellence into the software build process.

As Part Of The Business Operations Team, You Will
  • Work independently on site reliability projects, applying best practices to meet organizational quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain high‑availability systems for operational stability.
  • Evaluate operational needs and develop technical solutions under guidance.
  • Contribute to automation and scripting projects to streamline routine tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate system issues, escalating complex problems as needed.
  • Document operational procedures and share knowledge with team members.
  • Participate in quality checks and reviews to ensure system stability and reliability.
  • Make minor adjustments or enhancements to resolve identifiable issues and manage small projects as an individual contributor.
Role Qualifications
  • Observability – Implement solutions that collect, analyze, and visualize metrics, logs, and traces for incident detection and continuous improvement.
  • Programming and Scripting – Write and maintain code/scripts in Python, Go, Bash, or similar to automate tasks and support monitoring, deployment, and incident response.
  • Systems and Network Administration – Configure, operate, and troubleshoot Linux/Unix systems and network components with strong networking knowledge.
  • Cloud Computing and Infrastructure – Design, deploy, and manage applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP, ensuring scalability, security, and availability.
  • Reliability and Scalability – Design systems for high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery while scaling to meet future demand.
  • Dev Ops Practices – Apply CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and orchestration to improve software delivery and operations.
  • Troubleshooting – Systematically diagnose and resolve technical issues across systems, applications, and networks.
  • Capacity Planning and Performance Optimization – Monitor resource utilization, forecast capacity needs, and optimize performance to support growth.
  • IT Service Management – Apply ITSM principles to incident, problem, and change management, ensuring reliable service delivery.
  • Proactive Monitoring and Improvement – Use reliability signals to anticipate issues, identify risks, and drive preventative improvements.
Specific Tools / Systems
  • Strong knowledge of ITSM practices, observability, and monitoring tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
  • Experience operating and supporting applications on PCF and AWS platforms.
  • Proven ability to implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Bitbucket, and XLR for automated build and release management.
Corporate Security Responsibility
  • Abide by Mastercard’s security policies and practices.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the information being accessed.
  • Report any suspected information security violation or breach.
  • Complete all periodic mandatory security trainings in accordance with Mastercard’s guidelines.
