OverviewCulmen International is hiring a Sr. Exploitation Specialist / Data Scientist to provide support on-site at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) in St. Louis, MO, supporting an Analysis Office. The role focuses on AOS Metadata Cataloging and Management Services to enhance product and asset management of content for intelligence producers in NGA.
What You’ll Do in Your New RoleThe Data Scientist will coordinate with clients to understand questions involving the client's datasets and develop data-driven solutions within program guidelines.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with large structured and unstructured data in a modeling and analytical environment to define and create streamlined processes in evaluating unique datasets.
- Lead and participate in the design of solutions and refinement of pre-existing processes.
- Work with Customer Stakeholders, Program Managers, and Product Owners to translate roadmap features into components/tasks, estimate timelines, identify resources, suggest solutions, and recognize possible risks.
- Use exploratory data analysis techniques to identify meaningful relationships, patterns, or trends from complex data.
- Apply applied mathematics, programming skills, analytical techniques, and data to provide impactful insights for decision makers.
- Research and implement optimization models, strategies, and methods to inform data management activities and analysis.
- Apply big data analytics tools to large, diverse sets of data to deliver impactful insights and assessments.
- Conduct peer reviews to improve the quality of workflows, procedures, and methodologies.
- Help build high‑performing teams; mentor team members and provide development opportunities to increase their technical skills and knowledge.
- TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a CI/Poly.
- 10+ years of relevant experience, or a combination of experience, professional certifications, and training.
- Strong working knowledge and hands‑on experience with Esri solutions such as Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and secure enterprise Esri portals.
- Senior‑level proficiency in Python and its data science ecosystem, including Pandas, Num Py, Sci Py, Matplotlib, Plotly, Dash, and Bokeh.
- Experience creating customized visualizations and analytical applications to meet operational requirements.
- Experience automating analytic and business processes using Python and related technologies.
- Experience applying AI/ML techniques to structured and unstructured datasets.
- Experience supporting Intelligence Community operations.
- Experience in data mining, developing, maintaining, and manipulating databases.
- Experience identifying and implementing system enhancements, new capabilities, and modernization initiatives.
- Knowledge of advanced analytic methodologies and experience implementing them to support mission and business objectives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Master's degree in Data Science or a related technical field.
- Experience developing and working with AI/ML.
- Advanced programming experience with HTML5/Java script, Arc Objects, Python, Model Builder, Oracle, SQL, GIScience, and other GIS-related technologies.
- Experience using .NET, Python, C++, and/or Java for web interface development and geodatabase development.
- Experience building and maintaining databases of GEOINT, SIGINT, or OSINT data relevant to area‑of‑interest needs.
- Experience in data visualization, including matrix analytics, network analytics, and graphing data for operational picture generation.
