What You Will Do
- The API Platform Team Leader plans, directs, and leads a team of associates and contractors responsible for the engineering, delivery, and operational support of enterprise API platform, including Mule Soft Runtime Fabric, Omni Gateway, and supporting pipelines. The leader ensures platform reliability, scalability, security, and alignment to enterprise digital strategy.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of platform engineers, software engineers, SREs, Dev Ops engineers, and quality engineers.
- Align API platform capabilities, roadmaps, and priorities with enterprise digital strategy and architecture.
- Lead engineering and operations for API management platforms including Mule Runtime Fabric and Omni Gateway.
- Oversee runtime environments (cloud, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and platform automation capabilities.
- Ensure operational excellence across incident response, upgrades, patching, and disaster recovery.
- Mature Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to improve availability, performance, and resilience of platforms.
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships across stakeholders including Digital Product Teams, Cloud Operations, Security, Dev Ops, and Enterprise Architecture.
- Ensure prudent use of financial resources including infrastructure, licensing, and labor cost drivers.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to associates while developing successors and building team capability.
- Responsible for day-to-day platform operations, including releases, incident response, and system changes, while leading escalations impacting availability, performance, or security and ensuring alignment with ITIL frameworks.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related experience.
- 5+ years of experience in IT / platform engineering with at least one year in a leadership role (mentoring, lead solutioning, project leader, etc.).
- Experience with API platforms, cloud infrastructure, or distributed systems required.
- Strong understanding of Dev Ops, CI/CD pipelines, and SRE practices preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ITSM tools (e.g., Service Now) and ITIL processes including incident, problem, change, and release management required.
- Platform engineering and cloud-native architecture.
- API management platforms and gateway technologies.
- CI/CD and Dev Ops tooling.
- Automation and infrastructure as code.
- Monitoring, observability, and system reliability.
