We are looking for a Treasury Enterprise Architect to provide strategic technical guidance and establish enterprise architecture standards and patterns for the Treasury business lines supported by St. Louis, owned by the Department of Treasury’s Bureau of Fiscal Service.
The role is a critical technical thought leader partnering with system and Treasury stakeholders to align technology strategies with business objectives, ensuring scalability, reusability, security and innovation. The position can be based in St. Louis, MO, Kansas City, MO, or Cleveland, OH. The role reports to the Assistant Vice President of Enterprise Services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic direction of technologies, standards, processes, and target state architectures.
- Guide the organization in incorporating architecture design patterns, system best practices, and system standards.
- Leverage deep knowledge of current technology, industry standards, frameworks, security best practices, and emerging technologies to accelerate business value.
- Represent the Treasury portfolio in system work groups, establishing effective frameworks for bidirectional communication with local stakeholders and technical teams.
- Facilitate stakeholder technical discussions, build consensus across groups, and lead to a cloud‑optimized technical roadmap for each program and application team.
- Serve as the translator between system-wide, enterprise technical decisions and local implementations.
- Develop forward‑looking technical roadmaps, identifying cross‑team technical challenges and aligning with business product roadmaps.
- Lead technical discussions, provide architectural guidance, and influence technology decisions.
- Create a community of practice with other enterprise, solution, and application architects.
- Mentor and facilitate internal knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, technology leaders, developers, architects, partners, peers, and business users in design and delivery of technology business solutions.
- Deliver proof of concepts and support product teams as they move to the cloud and then optimize and modernize.
- Ensure alignment with organizational goals while maintaining timelines and team cohesion.
- Implement and maintain robust security protocols in partnership with Information Security team and security champions.
- Use data‑driven technical leadership with metrics, dashboards, and information radiators to make data visible, transparent, and solution‑focused.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution design, and large‑scale technology implementations in complex, highly regulated environments.
- Deep understanding of modern technology stacks, cloud platforms (AWS preferred), data governance, and enterprise software solutions.
- Expertise in architectural frameworks such as TOGAF.
- General understanding of the cyber security threat landscape and controls in a highly regulated Gov Cloud environment.
- Thorough understanding of AWS security architecture to design solutions with least privilege across services, resources, and data.
- In‑depth experience implementing highly complex technology projects in a cross‑functional matrix environment with demonstrated ability to drive consensus and deliver results.
- Experience leading through influence and successfully resolving conflicting priorities.
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, including translating technical topics and risks into business terms.
- Ability to personalize communication for audiences ranging from technologists to executive leadership.
- US citizenship and ability to obtain Security Clearance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and leadership of industry best practices in application development, solution architecture, agile methodologies, cloud development, cybersecurity.
- Industry‑related certifications in one or more of the above areas are desired.
- Salary: $151,500–$196,900.
